Indian Origin Yoga

Pravar Obhan

My name is Pravar Obhan, I am from India and currently living in the Netherlands. I’ve been brought up with yoga and it has been my passion for many years. As with many people from India, yoga was part of my upbringing and lifestyle. With both my parents being yoga teachers, I was introduced to this lifestyle at a very young age.

To strengthen my knowledge and experience of the true yogic lifestyle I have stayed at the Patanjali Yogpeeth, Divya Yog Mandir ashram in Haridwar, India for four years. In the ashram, the day to day lifestyle is very basic. I woke up around 4 in the morning, before sunrise, to take a dip in the Ganges and practice yoga. Other activities would include having fire ceremonies, chanting and gardening. In the afternoon I would help in our Ayurverdic pharmacy, a place where my passion for natural healing was further increased.

After the ashram in Haridwar I completed a four month residential course at the Bihar school of yoga in India. In a class with 93 international students we learned all about a more holistic approach to yoga. Focus of this course was to get closer to the original yogic way of life.

Following these yogic experiences, I went for Bharat bhraman, travelling as a tour leader all over India and Nepal for 8 years.

To perfect my teaching skills I completed the Yoga Teacher Training at the Arhanta school of yoga in The Netherlands in 2015.

I am currently following an advanced course in Yoga Therapy with S-VYASA in Bangalore, India.

I'm looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experience from India with my student yogis in The Netherlands.
